Glamping with Glaciers
This alpine meadow is a unique place to both glamp and take in incredible glaciated peaks from the small alpine tarns.
The first time we visited this location was in 2022, it was the first time I’d ever accessed the alpine in this way. It felt destructive and I was uneasy at first, but I learned that this was a mining area, and while the exploring format was different, we stayed on the existing roads. The views of the peaks in Goat Range are breathtaking; this mountain is surrounded by big, beautiful, glaciated relatives to look out onto and appreciate from every angle.
We’ve explored this area a couple of times, most recently in the late and rainy season - because it is vehicle access, we had planned to set up a shelter and stay; however, a momma grizzly and her cubs were already there, so we cut our visit short! While we were exploring, we were lucky enough to pick some mountain strawberries and enjoy some of the vibrant plant life before heading back down. The big mountain views were lost in all of the fog, which made this area feel smaller but, somehow, no less magnificent.
